Not at all! You said you wanted extra characters in the story so it only feels right that I add myself to it. If I were to ever change my occupation, I would have told you so. I do not plan on being an actual maid anytime in the near future. It is too much work for someone like me. However, I will play as one for the sake of this story.
Regardless, I am curious to see what you wrote. Please so enlighten me on what else you have written to add to this story. Once you do, I'll give my own interpretation to everything.
Just a moment here. I am the one who is waiting. If you truly wish to know what I believe the next section of the story should entail then you will immediately make your way over. Hu Tao, don't forget, it is my birthday. Don't you believe I should spend some time with my closest friends on this special day? Both you and Chongyun have abandoned me here, I am alone. My heart aches that I cannot gaze upon your visage. Besides, even if you're not planning to make a career change you wouldn't leave me in my time of need now would you? Come now Hu tao, I've left the door unlocked for you to step right inside. Hurry, Hurry.
Are you really willing to have me walk over there just for the sake of the story? How troublesome and especially as we can finish the rest here. However, you are correct, it would be better to spend it with you as I know you do not want to alone. But very well, I shall make my way over to you.
I shall be there in a moment!
[And with that, Xingqiu would near a knock by the unopened door before she made herself in.]
And it seems you were correct, you truly left the door unlocked. How brave of you.
Yes, I am willing to have you make that sacrifice. I'll see you soon Hu Tao.
[ As he stated in the last text delivered the door has been left unlocked for her to come in, although he does welcome Hu Tao announcing her arrival with that knock. And just what is waiting for her here? She'll be surprised to find that there is no mess, in fact, the apartment doesn't need any tidying. Everything is clean and organized. The only thing waiting for Hu Tao (aside from Xingqiu himself) is the scent of a freshly cooked meal. Soon Xingqiu steps out of the kitchen to greet his friend. ]
Welcome Hu Tao, thank you for sharing this special occasion with me.
[This wasn't what she was expecting. As she stared down at the sight before her, she was fully prepared to see a mess everywhere. And yet, that wasn't the case. Everything was cleaned up nicely and with the smell of a cooked meal? She gave a small sigh.]
The pleasure is mine but if you wanted a meal, I could have cooked something for you. It is your birthday and you didn't have to do that.
[Because one should not have to cook a meal on their birthday!!]
[ It is his birthday and he doesn't want to share this special day with his friends in a pigsty. Unfortunately, that meant taking care of the mess and since it was one that was mostly made by him then it is only fair that he takes some level of responsibility. He ended up cleaning up on his own as much as he hated having to tidy up. Nothing is going to make the task of cleaning any less boring and tedious. He imagines she is shocked to see that he can actually maintain a decent home, although he isn't sure what brought on that sigh.
There is a pause from him as he considers her offer; between the choice of a story or a meal crafted by Hu Tao he knows where her talents are and where they lack. This was the better option. Not that he doesn't appreciate the thought. Slowly a smile makes its way to his lips. ] This is what I wanted to do. I wanted to share a meal that I enjoy with a friend.
Come on. Come have a seat. I'll get everything set on the table. You can't decline to have a taste of what I've made now. [ At least she doesn't have to worry about anything suspicious, unlike Chongyun. So while she settles down he is going to get the table set. Did he just finish cooking? That's exactly the case. ]
I am actually surprised you didn't stop by first. Not that I didn't enjoy your story but I prefer hearing it from your lips than reading it on my own.
[As she walked closer toward the table, she couldn't help but inspect the area. Everything was neat and tidy, nothing was out of place. It seems that he was serious about spending time with his friends as she wasn't expecting a room like this. Giving a small nod to herself, it definitely seems like Xingqiu was more than capable of cleaning up after himself! That was a good thing to note as she might want him to help her clean up one day!
After all, an extra pair of hands was better than just one!
Once she sat down, she cleared her throat.]
Then very well! Despite the gloomy nature of the castle, things seems to slightly brighten up with the appearance of such a cheerful maid. Of course, Chongyun didn't think much about it as he was curious on what she said. Upon knowing that there was a young master of this castle, he immediately felt embarrassed. To think that to walked into a castle without permission was unthinkable! Still, he just had to know who this young master was!
[With that, she tried her best to copy Chongyun's voice.]
"Young master? Mind if I ask where he is?" He said in a low whisper. But the young maid waved her hand to her side. "He's probably out hunting. Whenever he gets hungry, he likes to go out for food." The prince wasn't too sure what to think What was she trying to imply? This mysterious young master was someone who wanted to shoot animals for food? What was the point when he had a maid? But again, he didn't think much about it as he needed a night to stay. "Do you think he would mind....?
[ A proper presentation is important when it comes to sharing a meal in celebration; more so when one of his most cherished friends would be sharing this time with him. Now it is up to him to set the dishes on the table, of course, he does bring the dish he painstakingly took time to improve the formula on; his own specialty: All-Delicacy Parcels. The rest of the dishes are based on Yue Cuisine, of course, some ingredients had to be replaced with others. He hasn't seen a Jueyun Chili anywhere in this city.
Now if only he knew just what she was thinking; unfortunately for him, he may discover himself being volunteered into cleaning services. For a friend, to be good, to do good, then he may have to accept to provide his help. Even if cleaning is a tedious chore.
And now the story continues. With the dishes all on the table, he too would sit down to enjoy the rest of the narration. He'll have to contribute his own portion to the story too but for now, he can't help a small and short laugh that he can't keep quite polite as she imitates the exorcist's voice. While her voice was completely unlike Chongyun's there was a dramatic flare to her trying to mimic his tone and speech pattern. ]
Hm. So I'm out hunting now, am I?
Honestly, that young prince Chongyun expecting a lady to go out in the middle of the night by her lonesome. Even he is scrambling for a place to stay for the night even if he finds the atmosphere of the castle to be rather strange. I suppose beggars can't be choosers.
[ He now clears his throat. If she is going to attempt to imitate Chongyun's voice then he supposes that he has to do the same and imitate the director's voice — or rather the maid's. ] "Mind what? That you tracked mud into his castle? If he doesn't I do." The maid's expression is a serious one as her hands land on her hips, although there is a sparkle of mischief in her eyes. If Chongyun took a moment to actually inspect his surroundings he would realize that a single maid could not possibly clean a place of this size and magnitude. Yet it was she alone who was here to greet him. Where was the rest of the staff?
It's the need for shelter that doesn't allow him to question things. An apology is soon at the young prince's lips. "Sorry, that wasn't my intention. Let me assist you in cleaning, or anything else if that would allow me a safe place to stay for the night." For as mighty as this prince is, he is also humble but mostly... he is rather gullible. And with the prince taking her bait the maid pretends she must think it over. Pensive for a moment before sighing out loudly, rather dramatically. "Well, I suppose I have no choice but to accept your help since you apologized. I'll go ahead and prepare a room for you, while you start cleaning up."
[Now that he was finished with everything, she gave a proud nod to him. After she took the time to ensure that everything was set in place during the lantern rite, it was nice to see that he was doing the same for her. Nothing seemed out of place as things seemed to be set based on what they meant. Not only that, she didn’t need to eat the dish to know that he took time on it as well. Just looking at it, she knew that it was going to be a treat once she gave it a taste.
Of course, she just hoped that he didn’t have to ask her to clean up the dishes. She was simply a guest and to ask such a thing from her was considered rude! But then again, she was his friend so he might ask that of her….
But until then? She’ll simply sit back and relax as she hears the rest of his version of the story.]
Well, it’s supposed to make their meeting a little more interesting! It builds up the plot as Chongyun is already trying to get an idea of what Xingqiu is like. It adds to the mystery! And besides, who knows? Perhaps this maid could probably clean up the entire castle by herself.
[She said with a giggle]
As soon as she heard his words, she gestured to the young prince to follow him. With a smirk on her face, she hoped that he did not see through her plans for she had something in store. For now, she’ll keep to herself. Once they made it to the room, she went straight to the bed before laying out the comforters and the blankets. “I’m afraid that this is all we have as we normally don’t have visitors. Although, I’m sure that I can find some more blankets if I look around. But until then…?”
She said before walking out of the room and pointed to the various mops nearby. “Shall we start cleaning?” Again, with a smile, all the young prince could do was stare in awe.
[Then, she cleared her throat in an attempt to mimic Chongyun’s voice.] “V-Very well, I shall try but I never cleaned up such a big castle before!”
[ Isn't it fortunate That Xingqiu knows proper decorum? He would never dream of requesting that his guest clean up after joining him on this special day. Now if she were to offer her aid, he might make a pretense of declining her help before accepting her assistance. That would leave Hu Tao the opportunity to escape, but he seems to have everything under control at the moment — even the kitchen isn't looking too bad after he took the time to prepare this feast for them.
Now that the story is continuing, and she has taken her turn to continue the narration he motions with his hand for her to help herself to the meal as he speaks. ]
Oh? Well, do you want to know my opinion on this lively maid with long brown tresses? I do believe you are correct in saying that she can clean an entire castle on her own but I thought to bring up the fact that Chongyun has failed to notice she is the sole servant present as I believe that may be important to the story. It lends to the supernatural aspects of her character. But also since this young lady is based on you Ms. Hu, I thought that despite being adept at cleaning she might not be so keen on such a chore.
[ And now he motions towards her. They've been friends, but only here in the city has he learned more about her which includes how she can keep on home on her own. Honestly, she probably knows of his own struggles. He can work within some chaos, not complete disarray. ]
Perhaps it was her showing some form of mercy but more than likely it was his earnest blue eyes that caused the maid to have second thoughts on her initial plans. A young human prince couldn't possibly clean the castle on his own and liberate her from such a dull task. She mentally chastised herself for being so kind, all the while also patting herself on the back for the very same reason. Clearly she was a pillar among vampires. And so the cleaning begins, naturally, with her abilities she is much quicker than any human, and yet the prince was able to keep up with her astounding the maid.
[As she listened, she leaned back against her seat as she thought of what else to add to the story. So far, this was far from what she was envisioning as she planned to make this story as romantic and cliched as possible for the sake of both of their amusement. And yet, it seems that Xingqiu was ready to point out every single story trope. With a sigh, this just makes things all the more tricky as it was difficult to immerse herself into such a story.
However, she was not one to give up! Instead, it just means she’ll have to try harder!]
Perhaps not but if something needs to be done, she will put her mind to it! Besides, it would be a shame considering she dared not upset her master. Should he see that there was a spot that was uncleaned? Why, she might fear for her life as she does not know what the young vampire could do!
[Not that she should fear what Xingqiu would ever do. He wouldn’t ever do anything to her but she couldn’t help the slight teasing.]
But anyway…! With every fiber of his being, Chongyun desperately tried to keep up with the maid. Even though he was human, he did not want to feel that he was slacking. As the minutes and hours passed by, he found himself realizing just how much labor this poor servant had to do everyday. When everything seemed to be all done, that’s when he heard something. While he was in a room cleaning a wall, he heard some mumbling behind the wall.
Why, who could it be? He was not sure but he dared to lean in closer to the wall wanting to hear what happened. Suddenly, his heart started to pound louder as he wondered if this was a good idea.
[ It hasn't been lost on Xingqiu that this tale is meant only to entertain her audience, however, her audience was composed solely of him. While he is partially amused that she has chosen to add old cliches, the writer in him can't help but deviate away from the predictable, perhaps it may come off as ungrateful but he knows Hu Tao well enough to understand this might be difficult for some an eccentric as her. He wouldn't have minded at all if she took up her usual style, it's always the thought that counts.
Besides, she is the only person to gift him a story for his birthday. Scratch that. She is the only person to gift him anything for his birthday — not that he expected anything from boy who cannot remember his own birthda. ]
Oh? So I am a frightening young vampire prince now? I cannot imagine you ever being afraid of me. Or perhaps you do find me intimidating? [ His expression hints at reasonable amusement. They've been friends for a long while now, they've exchanged poems and intertwined their words to form new works. ] All for the sake of the story then?
Very well.
I think I understand your aim with this. I never thought you were the type...
The poor exhausted human prince's curiosity had gotten the better of him, unfortunately, he was indeed only human, and thick walls made it difficult for him to distinguish what the sounds were coming from the other side of the wall. He was almost certain it was the voice of a man. Now what could be on the other side of this thick wall? It was an older, plain busy-body of a vampire that shall never be named in this tale and was an older relative of the maid's master. He spoke only words that were likely some older lesson or saying, not very important but could cause panic and extreme boredom in anyone that could make out his words. Those were his powers.
Perhaps, just a little bit. If I have to tell the story, I might as well make you look and sound a little bit frightening. Isn’t the point of the story to have Chongyun melt the heart of such a foul and evil vampire? Especially one who has been away from humanity for so long that he does not know the warm embrace of a human being?
[She said crossing her arms. Giving a dramatic summary of the story, she couldn’t help but give an equally dramatic sigh. After all, the point of the story was to make it as romantic and cliched as possible. Despite Xingqiu trying to break it, she hoped that by telling him he would follow along.
But then again, she never expected him to anyway.]
As the young maid sighs at how he kept telling of his old days of when he was younger, the poor prince couldn’t help but sigh as well. Indeed, there was only so much that two young people could withstand the old man’s ramblings. However, there was something else that pinged his curiosity. Indeed, he could hear that there was a young vampire that was coming their way as soon as they must clean up for his sake. After all, his temper was rather terrible.
[ A delicate eyebrow is raised as Hu Tao confirms that she is twisting his nature for the sake of a story. A questionable story at that. A questionable but entertaining story. He smiles nodding gently, he'll follow along then with the gift she is crafting here in his home. Although he does wonder how Chongyun would feel about her take — Chongyun melting the heart of a foul and evil vampire; he feels the exorcist might take those words for their literal sense...
He sits up attentive as she continues the story. It seems he gave her enough of a break to get her wits about her; he did leave the story in a rather awkward spot after the maid and the young prince met the vampire character based on his older brother. ]
Most would not blame the young pair if they fell asleep hearing the elder vampire ramble away about days of old and long ago; of how the castle shone like a pearl under the moonlight or how once the stone floors glimmered like Noctilucous Jade. He went on and on, and at last, after the thirty-minute sermon concluded, it was only then he instructed them to keep on cleaning. Leaving them to their task the man was off. Of course, the prince looks at the maid in confusion because that's exactly what they had been doing before they were interrupted.
With all the time wasted, it means that by now the young vampire prince has returned to the castle. And he is certainly terrible! Why! He is already tracking mud through the freshly cleaned floors!
[ He motions for her to continue. ] How about I leave the rest to you, I think I am distracting you from your vision for this tale.
[While Hu Tao was aware that Xingqiu was trying to change the story just for the sake of annoying her, she was trying her hardest to not get upset. However, despite trying to maintain a poker face, it was difficult as she was narrowing her eyes and crossing her arms. Here, she was, making a story as romantic and glorious where it would be told for generations! And now, here Xingqiu was ruining the whole thing!
With a sigh, it seems that she was going to have to redirect her story once more.]
It seems that their hard work was for not as the vampire prince had certainly made a mess. With the mud being tracked across the floors, both the human prince and the maid gave a sigh as they left the room. After hearing the vampire prince come into the castle, they started to wonder what would happen next.
“Please hurry, he would want to make the castle as clean as possible now!” The maid said cheerfully as the young human prince gave a sigh. Was he going to be prepared to meet this mysterious Xingqiu in person or will he face his wrath?
